    Need Advice On Fishfinder

I HAVE A GARMIN FISHFINDER THAT HAS BEEN GIVING STRANGE READINGS LATLEY.

IT WILL SHOW WATER DEPTH IS 200 mm WHEN WE KNOW THERE IS AT LEAST 1.5M. LAST TRIP OUT IT EVEN SHOWED WATER DEPTH WAS -400mm.

I HAVE CLEANED THE CONNECTIONS AT THE BACK OF THE SOUNDER
WOULD A BAD BATTERY BE THE PROBLEM . I HAVE JUST REPLACED IT BUT HAVE NOT BEEN BACK ON THE WATER YET TO TEST IT

    CHEERS BILL
any day on the water is magic catching fish is a bonus

Possibly. If there wasnt enough power gettin to the transducer, the beams it was sending out might have been too weak to send down to even 1.5m. I'd try it out on water first before going any further.

Check your transducer for a stone chip from something flung up from the trailer tyres. I have replaced two transducers to this sort of injury over the past ten years. One time it just didnt work again and the other time it gave bad readings like that. Both times there has been evidence of a stone or rock hitting it at high speed. When it gave bad readings there was something loose inside the transducer you could feel when you shook it.

    Bill,
    Why are you shouting?

Have a physical look at the sender unit, then the associated cabling to the sender. I doubt whether supply voltage is an issue.
