    Barra Park

Fished the barra park today with nuggstar. They're still not very organised there, with signs everywhere saying pay at ski and skurf but only one guy on the counter there and a huge line up of people for both ski and barra. Once we actually got in the park it was great, with a two hookups and a nice fish landed in my first 10 casts on a turtleback worm. Then the rain came and the fish became much less agressive, so we switched to pellets and pellet flies, which brought us some great success. Between Nugg and I we probably managed 15 or so fish, varying in size from about 35cm to 60cm or so. Didn't spend much time trying the big boys pond, they were being very picky, not even hitting the pellets thrown out without the hook . Was still a good day, and despite the diorganisation with paying the place is looking better run and managed. Plenty of new fish in the ponds too, more olive green along the back than the silvery colour of the older fish. Things are looking up there, now bring on the night fishing.

Fished there 4 weeks ago, landed 7 fish in big boys pond on livies up to 89cm. Great fun on light gear, no where to run. Caught a few small ones from the ck on pink bomber. and saw one take atango dancer off the surface the young bloke nearly s*** himself. Plenty of new fish has been released, with lures sp seem to do the best. They will take every other pellet except the one with your tiny hook in it, until one gets a bit more aggressive.

    Re: Barra Park

me and a couple mates went to the barra farm on saturday form 10am till 6pm. i caught 3 fish from the big boys pond all 3 were around the 70-80cm mark. i caught absolotly heaps of small barra from the barra creek i ended up catching at leased 25 fish out of the barra creek all varieing in size from 30cm to 50cm. with the odd 55-70cm barra coming along to say hello. also caught a 20cm barra too he was a little jumper. all my fish were caught on pellets useing 6lb braid with 10lb leader with a 2000 size reel and a 1-3kg rod. great fun using light gear all up out off the 5 of us we must have landed over 60 barra. with me taking out the win of corse on 25 barra.

Fished there also on Sat for the first time from 2-6 and caught heaps in the creek with my daughter getting as may as I. We lost count how many we got and how many we lost. Was using 2kg braid and 3kg flurocarbon leader and fishin with pellets. There were a few tence moments with the fish reaching the opposite bank and jumping.
Ended up costig just $15 for the 2 of us as I had a free full day pass and the daughter got the 4 hrs for $15 [Bonus hour]. Biggest fish went 65cm average was around 50-55cm.

Will be back for sure when the wind pisses off.

Happy youngster thats what I like to see.
