Peter Faust Dam - Half full capacity

Peter Faust Dam has risen up to 51% recently, with lots of heavy rain pouring into the dam over the last few weeks.

It recieved 5400 megalitres in 24 hours on Tuesday/ Wednesday, being part of a 10% rise over a 48 hour period.

The water has flooded a large amount of areas, and is the highest it has been for 5 years.

Many of the large points are under with some new points & other features being created as the water level rises.

Barramundi fishing on the lake has been exceptional in different areas with Slick Rig lights working great for us.

There are a lot of big barramundi holding in the basin areas with small fish in shallow grassy areas too.

The whole lake has changed a massive amount with lots of drowned vegetation.

I'm trying to imagine what the place would look like now ...... It was a huge change for me from Oct 05 to Oct 07 when it was at 35% ....... NOW

Now how many of us can say that they have caught a barra from a biscuit let alone a metery ......... well done ..... what next ... from a wheelie bin ( no not a polycraft)

Great news bro's!
The future is bright for Faust and its fish. The Barra have started to beef up over the last year from inflows...... so i guess they can only get fatter from here eh

I beleive Teemburra is only half a metre from going over as well....and with 600mm in 24hrs in Mackay and surrounds the past 24hrs I dare say it will be going over soon!

Yep, the barra was caught from a tow tube slowly paddled around; a stealthy technique..

Teemburra Dam has risen a mega amount as has Kinchant & Eungella Dams which have risen to 100% capacity.

Mackay has had massive amounts of rain with lots of shops & houses being flooded in the area.

The low is expected to move north from Mackay and head to Townsville so there may still be more water due for the Faust catchment.
