    New Kilwell Rod

HI all just thought i would share some pics of the rod i just built is still not finished yet but is certainly on the way, this is my first real attempt at building and wrapping etc, i am certainly no pro at it yet but hope with more input from others, i can gain more knowledge and skill, the top winding check and the split butt piece i turned down myself, hope you all like it. cheers

thanks guys and girls it is good to get some feed back from those who have built the own rods before, you get a whole new perspective and appreciation of what goes into it, some of the winding checks you can buy now from alps and matagai, are great the cost is the biggest killer, hence the turning of my own next lot i do will be powdercoated or annodised, if i can find someone close by to them, looking forward, to doing some more, a new killwell 980 blank, will soon be on the lathe, and a much better split butt winding check on the metal lathe, will post the photos for you sid when i get done.
    cheers

ps i love the work sandyd and owen do as well, maybe i can start some weaving too, love the work you guys do.
