Some great lizards on here! Mine was a 96cm caught in '98 in the middle reach of the noosa river, landbased. no pic unfortuanately, but crikes she was a beast and pulled bloody hard!

this girl was 90 cm.

my youngest kid wanted to pat it 'cause I called it a big lizard during all the excitement. I wonder if she would have been as keen if I called it a small crocodile...

I caught this one in port hacking last week on 4lb .... 86cm

I was fishing for a large feed, so unfortunately i took it home.

Though I won't do that again for two reasons:

a) I struggled sleeping knowing i had killed such a nice old fish
b) it tasted like arse

There is no shortage of big 80+ flatties floating around. Be great to hook up but I would have to release anything that big. As cheese said it tasted like crap so there is no point putting it on the menu.

A small 60 cm is my current landed PB but have hooked onto a 1m+ croc on a live yakka.

Happened like this.

Cast, set baitrunner on, sit down and within 10 seconds

The yakka must have landed on the croc's head ...

I was only using 12lb mono and without a net, I tried my best to beach it but a final head shake at end of the fight saw him to his freedom.

2 witnesses, a nearby woman who was screaming her head off and her son who kept saying ... is that a shark or is that a whale ??

I just wanted to take a photo and release it, but to tell you the truth, I had NFI how to pick up a flatty so bloody big without a rag/gloves ..

There used to be a copy of a very old photo on the wall of the Karingal pub, Moreton island, of the biggest flathead I've ever seen. It was apparently caught in the Northern Rivers of NSW. I'd estimate it to be around 1.5 m. Last time I was at the pub the photo wasn't there. Did anyone else get a glimpse of it?
