Biggest Flathead

got one to the side of the boat well over 1metre complete with the huge spade sized head, took a whole squid at evans head in the river. im not a flathead fisho but i spewed about that fish for a long time afterwards. mate was there too, like other posters I didnt think I had a flathead on

Mate i just use a bit of a rip, rip pause type of actions with the fish. Not too hard and not to soft. TBH it seems to keep the other smaller flatties of the bite cause of the aggressiveness of the bigger ones dont care how fast the lure moves.

Im not yanking the lure, just to solid twiches of the rod with a pause. Actually caught one the same size if not bigger the cast before hand, but dropped him on the sandbank(i walked there from my boat, water to shallow).

Ahh the old flathead well over a meter myth continues, loved to proved wrong.
Seen two fish caught just on a meter by other people over the years that were pictured and weighed around 9kg, my best is 98cm and still trying they seem to put on a kg in weight for every 3cm or so once they reach 90cm which would make one of these so called 1.5m fish well over 30kg sounds like an old wives tale to me.

98cm in the Nerang Canals, chasing bream on 4lb fireline and 2" minimini pink single tail plastic. The locals who saw me catch nearly ran over the water to get it when I released it.

Over a meter in the pine river, caught it on a live poddy on the run out tide. It was so big I tred to net it for a pic and relized this baby was too big for the net and i may harm the fish for release tryin to net it. still got a witness

I landed one about 82/83cm that i thought was a croc from kalinga bank on a little 3" watermelon powerbait, really early in the morning.. had a mate with me and i was giving him heaps about it, 10 mins later he landed one that was 94 cm and was that thick across the head that it looked like a huge frying pan and tail...can only imagine what one a above the metre mark looks like but they are around for sure... my day will come...

Biggest was 103cm cating a HB in the tweed. Biggest ive seen... Wading in the mouth at Awhinya creek on Fraser I hooked one 64cm, had it almost to my feet when a true beast of a flathead charged in swallowed my poor little flatty whole and took off up the beach. Befor i had come to terms with just happaned it spat the little one out and i wound it in stone dead. That fish was eaisily around the 1.5m mark and was down right scary!

My 16yr nefew got this one on 6lb braid 89cm !!!
