    Charter / info for Cania

    Hi All,
I will be travelling down from Cairns to Gladstone for a work trip and have the opportunity over the weekend to have some fishing time!

I was planning to head out to Cania Dam for 2 days, do some of the bush walks and hopefully some fishing. I hear landbased options on this dam are limited so I was wondering if anyone knows of a good charter operator for this dam?

I'm used to catching estuary barra by flicking lures but it would be great to catch a bass or a toga. I'll be down there in the next few weeks and will camp at the gorge retreat.

    Cheers, Evan

    Thanks Nagg,
I did watch him on the AFC. I'll give him a call, but won't hold out to much hope as I will be there on the 23rd and 24th, not far away and he may be booked already.

Any other ideas for guides would be appreciated also.

    thanks, Evan

Yep Motty can probably help you out.

Paul Dolan may also be chartering there as well.

Either one will be sure to show you how to fish Cania well. I've fished with both of these guys & they're good at what they do.

    Hey Evan,
If you run out of luck with a chartered trip the next best bet might be one of the tourist parks at Cania Gorge. i think one of them might even do half day charters and/or hire boats/kayaks. It's been a fair while since i've been there. Sorry my memory's a bit vague but I think it's Cania Gorge Tourist Park, the 1 closest to the dam.
Good luck there. I love to fish that dam but sadly trips to Cania are few & far between these days.
