Saturday's forecast set to be a cracker so i managed to talk the cheese and kisses to come out wide for the day to test her sea legs, the plans to leave at 3am blew out so we decided to head of at 8am to drop some pots in and head to moreton for the day as the change was forecast by midday. Then then young fella spoted some surface action yelling Dad! Dad ! there just smashin the surface!! so we dropped 3 skirts out and trolled in the shippin channel for 1/2 an hr or so in the shipping channel, all on light bottom bashin gear, then low and behold the lightest combo goes off !!! 4 to 6kg set up, just awsome on light gear a nice little longtail tuna i'd say 7+ kg. We then headed to moreton between bullwar and curtin for a quick fish with nothin doing on the sounder we beached and swam and had lunch for a while, then headed back and picked the pots up with 9 sandies aboard before the wind really blew out.
All in all a great day and the 1st pelagic on the nautical mile. All cooked up with some mango , chilli, garlic and soy on the BBQ was just a treat.
On return there seemed to be a frenzy at skirmish pt with most stopping to throw a slug at what looked like just bait fish ?????
And it was good to see at the boat ramp an inspector checkin size and bag limits too.
