    Shornecliffe.

Hey, I'm wondering what would take a floating live Mullet or something of the Shonrnecliffe Pier at the end....

    Mackeral, Tuna, Shark??? What else.

    Re: Shornecliffe.

Very rare to get a mac and tuna off the pier, but I have seen a lot of species caught there. Most likely a shark.

there was a 1.2m thready caught there last year but my guess would be a bronze whaler i used to get heaps off the end .

Thanks, I'd also give the shornecliff jetty a go, I dont mind sharks as long as they are under 4 feet, nice to go with chips. Dusk onwards would be the go, would it? Peter

I have seen makeral caught off there, but with all the negative reports from the bay i doubt there would be any around.

Shark and chips make a good combo

Can get them day or night to five foot there. Bigger ones better during the day in south east wind.

    hey tailorboi

if ur chasing ther sharkies i think thats a bit too light if ur chasing common estuary fish like bream flathead whiting way too heavy i would say 50lb to 60lb braid for the sharks with a 30lb wire trace rigged with a large live mullet. and a really big hook with a balloon float and an overhead and a boat rod possibly 16-20kg if ur chasing the estuary fish i would suggest a light 2-4kg rod with a 2500 sized reel and 6-8lb pe braid
    hope this helps

i beleive you are wrong there, 25lb mainline should be plenty to land sharks up to 6 foot as long as you have a good quality wire trace that is about 100lb or more. About the big hook too, its not neccessary if you use a circle hook you can catch big sharks on 3/0 hooks if you want but for the bigger specimens go 8/0-12/0 circles on a big wire trace. When chasing small sharks(up to 4 foot) often you can go without the wire and still land them.

My mate caught a 4ft bronzy on 10lb mono no leader and a small hook he was targeting bream lol i was amazed! that he actually got it in. We sat there for 2 hrs, and he hooked it like 5 mins before we were leaving.

How is the pier doing atm btw i havent fished there for a good couple of months??
