This time of the year I would not be surprised to lose big live mullet to big tailor too. They are cruising around in thier ones and twos currently and will not heisitate to smash the hell outs any livies.
Smaller sharks would be more common at the moment but I would rather they not be relentlessly targetted, they are a very important part of the ecosystem and broadscale fishing for them will quickly see a balance being upset.
I would also not discount a large jewie cruising about as well, a good one was landed off clontarf a matter of weeks ago.
I am using a overhead 15-24kg with 50lb braid, 80lb wire trace, 6/0 live bait hook.
I was using a smaller outfit then which I am converting back to on my baitcaster although I prefer my heavy tackle with the 650+yards of line that it has on it to balloon off the end of the pier to get out to the drop off with a large mullet bait
