Weekend at tangalooma around the wrecks

Left late at 8 am from welly and waited for another boat at harries until we met up. Half a hour they came and off we went. Hit tangalooma in smooth comditions. There were 6 boats in total we were meeting with. We found them all and then set off to find fish. We sat at curtain reef for a while and dropped bait while i flicked plastics. I only used bait because as we pulled a guy dropped a tuna head and got smashed in seconds but lost to the size. I also got hit on my plastic and after a long run we pulled lines and anchor to give chase. He bricked me the only good fish of the weekend The captain of the boat pulled up a mauari cod a beautiful grinner lol and a huge we think bat fish. I only pulled a small flatty on plastics but all in all a good day to be trying new ground. We woke up to a good 17 notts of south west so we headed home at 4.15 am to mud for a quick flick but it was so windy the anchor wouldnt stick. We had to anchor due to our feul guage reading empty and all other drums used. This was the owners first trip longer than one day out so we will bring more feul next time. We snuck back inside the islands and made it back to see a lot of boats heading out in what we had just been through. Being a tinny owner i now see what the larger boat owners see when it blows up. I can cut through 2metre swell and not feel like i am in any danger and the speed of the 115 horse on this fibreglass makes it feel much more choppier for its size. PS I didnt see any speedsters on our rounds either.

Had a great day but i don,t think my big run was a knobby. We were the only boat that didn,t jump in for a swim that should narrow it down for you.
