    Favourite Fish

Gday all. Just wanted to do a post on what all you fishermens favourite fish to chase and catch are?and your reasons why you love catching these fish so much? I'd have to say my favourite fish would have to be whiting. They fight hard for their size and to me the taste of them is second to none. I know there is plenty of bigger and harder fighting fish then whiting but everything about these fish i love. Maybe this thread should be a poll as we could find out how much pressure some species get because of their popularity. I dont know how to do one though so this will do. Thanks to everyone who responds. Cheers.

I would have to say i love catching tailor. driving up the beach and belting pillys into the wild blue yonder only to have them slammed time and time again is fantastic. I also love rockfishing of the end of a headland in deep water, you never know what you might pull up. I'm still in persuit of a jewie.

    cheers

PS: Don't mind the odd Muddie as well ( you wouldn't happen to know where there running at present).North Brisbane area

For me there is only 2 typs of fish to catch. Before dawn it has to be Jews on H/B as you never know when they are going to hit and take off, After daylight it has to be Tailor ..... seeing them jump out of the water trying to smash your lure particularly if there is a few after the lure

    Re: Favourite Fish

Definitely Jacks in Summer on lures. The initial hit and run always makes me smile (and sometimes cry). Chasing them with relatively light line always makes fishing for them very exciting.

In Spring it would be Flathead on lures. Good honest fish that can be plentiful and always feel solid. The bigger girls can strip plenty of line when fished with 6lb, and they go even harder in shallow water.

Jacks. they are dirty fighting animals that you have to work hard at catching regulary,They always hit when you arnt ready and on light gear make a super sports fish.

POPPER Fishing For GTS!. Its the reason I live..mostly. Nothing beats a nice early morning sitting on a reef edge/headland and watching a GT smash your popper. and then let the physical battle begin.

Second to that would have to be jigging for mackerel or kingfish.

I throw back 99% of fish I catch, cause Im a lazy bastard and hate cleaning them I may keep a sweetlip or odd trout but I fish for the challenge, not for a feed
