Gday Hebb,
Yeah I've got a '03 175hp hpdi and my guage doesn't move either. Was like that when I bought the boat though so I have never seen it work, would be nice though. Will get them to check it out at next service.
Cheers

On my 89? Evinrude the gauge is not digital but last trip it stopped working.
I had to go to the sender unit tucked in the motor mount at the back, armed with WD-40. I sprayed the WD40 on the shaft of the lever that is meant to move with the motor, and after about eleventy twelve wiggles back and forth it started moving again. The gauge on the dash now reads OK.
I have a F115 that has the same trouble. I found there was a broken clamp that fits onto the bullhorn. There is a sensor that rests on this clamp which changes the angle on the gauge. Hope this helps.

Yep this is exactally the problem!!! It right at the front of the motor in the centre, below cowl level . It's a black knob with sping attached , work it back and forth with wd40 first but used inox at the end to maintain the lube. It's very easy to fix and a common probem as it gets over looked at service time!

Ps it also can be loosened of the shaft and moved with a grub screw the get the bars on the trim gauge co-insiding with the true motor position. Eg no bars motor right in , full bard moror right out!
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
Thanks guys shall operate tomorrow and see how I go.
What Ian said above..............., but in addition it can also be that plastic clamp broken as well. Mine got stuck first as described, then after a while it broke.
Cheap part to change though, don't think it was much more than $15 or so and easy to install. Don't even need to calibrate it because the clamp self aligns into position with a little tab and matching hole.
Cheers
