hey mate
I spent a bit of time there in the late 90's, top spot. Cant remember any rock fishing, from memory the rocks are coffee rocks. The beach is your standard Nth NSW beach, you will find the usual suspects in the gutters. I found plenty of pippies there.
The creek is worth a cast, you can walk from the camp to the mouth in around 1/2 an hour. All the usual estuary species should be found. Good flat head and whiting from memory.

There's about a 16km dirt road in, campgrounds put you right behind the fore dunes.
Plenty of beach access and 2WD no worries to the camp grounds.
The creek itself has a small pontoon at the access track from the campgrounds (6min walk) and was freshwater when I was there. Deep enough but no-where to launch a boat from trailer.
I was at Black Rock camping area the other day with work,
while we were waiting for the Nat Park rangers to turn up I went & had a look at the beach, looked very fishy, & as Blackened has said, only a stones throw from the camping area.
the beach changes alot with big seas i have fished down that way a fair bit in my earlier years and found after big seas the black rocks have fished well for bream. i find it a great beach to explore go north from the beach access 4wd's can't go that way your bound to find a few guttter and nice fishy looking areas on your journey
