    Smile New Boat Done

    hey guys,

well its been a few months but i have finnaly finished my new boat. As some of u will now she is a 3.8 mr Bluefin tinny with an 18 tohatsu on the ass end. i am very pleased with the boat/ outboard combo. the 18 gets her going at about 23 knts on flat freshwater and about 18- 20 in river/ sandy straits. ive used about 3 tanks of fuel and done about 15 hrs so far. i have done many things to the boat like the bow and side rails, the rear steps, floors, casting deak, electrics, draws under the front seat, glove box and so on. i am about to get a live bait tank put in with a draw or shelf under it for a first aid kit. i am one proud 16yr old! and enjoy the photos

    Re: New Boat Done

thanks for the replys guys, ive found some more photos of my boat so enjoy them. ive got a question about the live bait tank, do you think 24L will be big enough? and also what biminies have you used because i wouldnt mind getting one. i like the look of the whitewater one with the rocket launcher rod holder that was in the Bias cataloge. i would like to only have one strap to hold the biminie in the opend position, that is why i was thinking of gettin the rocketlauncher with it. (also a good excuse to carry more rods with me!!!) Any coments would be appreceated.

    Thanks

    Re: New Boat Done

hey loophole, the fuel tank is now down behind the back seat where it belongs!

yea, i love my draws under the front seat, bit of work involved in makeing them but i love a bit of a challenge (and its handy when your oldmans a builder! not only for the help but for the price of materials!) when i first got the bare hull i thought that i would never have anough gear to fill the side pockets by them self but now iv got the 2 draws, the 2 sidepockets and my hatch full of gear. isnt it just unreal the amount of gear you carry in a boat!

    chears,

    chears,
    Boatie.
You will find the more room/storage you have the more things you find to fill it.

    Look forward to some reports.

PS, did you fit the hours gauge? if so how and where did you get it? i am hopeless at keeping track of the hours my donk does and want to fit one. cheers

    Re: New Boat Done

    Hi Mate,

Well done, top setup for a young lad.

I had a tinnie of similar size to yours (3.75m Allycraft) and wanted more storage room to, so went to supercheap auto and bought two lockable aluminum toolboxes ( they type tradesman have on the tray of their ute) to store all my bits and pieces. They worked a treat , especially because they were lockable.

Had that rig for 5 years, and in June '07' upgraded to 4.1m Allycraft Rhino with 25HP Yamaha 4 stroke, with power trim and tilt.

I too, would be interested in hearing what your hour meter cost and how hard are they to fit. ?

Hope you get a fish soon too.!!

    Cheers
    Scott

    Re: New Boat Done

    hey plaztix and scott,

i got the hourmeter form ebay from a ebay shop called Noosa Prop Shop. it was no more than $55inc post. i made the plate you can see in the photo and hooked her up and it works a treat. so much easer than trying to keep track of the hours.
the bloke from the shop was very helpfull and even went down to the local Tohatsu dealer and made shure it would fit and included a wiring diagram. i would recomend his business to people who whant to listen!

btw plaztix u were right about the more space you have the more gear you have. im starten to get a good colection of gear now, just need the bloody weather to be nice so i can use it!

scott the hour meter was easy to fit, made the plate, fitted, cut wires to length, put conecters on and fitted to the wires that were on the moter 4 the hourmeter
it comes with all the instructions and if i can do it im shure you could!

    Re: New Boat Done

    Hi Mate

Just another idea, on my seats in my last boat, I had some of those blue seat cushions made up and their attached with press studs. Would make fishing on a hot day a lot more comfortable, and stops seat from being scratched etc.
Any good upolstery place with make some up for you. I think I paid about $100 each.

I have some on order for my new boat

Thanks for the hour metre details, just having a bit of trouble locating this "Noosa Prop shop"

The idea for the drawers is brilliant too, you can never have too much storage.

Many an old fart would be happy with that little boat of yours too might I add. You have excelled yourself. Great boat and great choice in brands too.
Fantastic to see a young fella enjoying the wonders of boating.
