    Paravane leaders?

    G'day everyone,

Just wondering what everyone uses in the way of what they have between the paravane and thier lure/livebait?

I am trying to work out what the most productive length and material is for this.

Is it flourocarbon, Jinkai, wire or plain old mono they use for good success?

    Jack.

hi i use fluorocarbon about the length of you rod or about 2 meters this seems best especially in clear water, wire reduces the amount of attraction from the fish, mono still works but not as good as fluorocarbon and i don't know what jinkai is. . hope it helps or gives you an idea.

    regards,

Jack, I remember when we were kids, Dad used to use paravanes alot trolling for couta, salmon, tailor etc. at Eden.

If I remember correctly he had a leader from the paravane about 4 - 5 metres long with a Smiths Jig on the end. Material was mono as that was all that was available back then.

I reckon I'd still go mono now as a 5 metre leader ( or whatever length) of flurocarbon or jinkai could end up being an expensive exercise if you lose the lot including lure.

    Cheers Jeff.
