Onr very handy trick with your cast net is when you wash it put it in a bucket with some fabric softener and water in it to soak for 20 minutes then dry the net. The springiness will be gone from the mono and your net will spread out and stay spread out with the cast. I do this roughly about 1 in three washdowns.
My nets are over 10 yrs old these days and still in bloody good condition so it does not break down the mesh or the stitching.

Very good presentation John, my cast technique does need improving, more practice, had been in the local creek banks in Pimpama the other day, muddy as, and only 1 and 2 greasybacks per cast, hard work , end up getting 1/2 kg in 2 hours. sore back, arms, shoulders and mudbath included. Peter
