    Samurai S006

Have decided to use the above blank for the RBW. As a 7', line class 2 - 4 kg rod for all round estuary bashing, I was hoping for some ideas on the components and other bits and pieces I will need for this. Even though it will be my first rod made, I would like to still go for components which balance quality with economy, with the view to making up a rod which i can do as much as possible over the weekend, then look to give it a schmicko finish in the weeks after the RBW.

    Any help appreciated, as always,

I'm a fan of samurai blanks, I have four now.

Will you be using it with a baitcaster or for spin??? You will have to make allowences for this when selecting the guides. If you had posted this up about two weeks ago I could have got you some very nice guides from the US...cheap!!!

I like to use cork for the grips, I like the look and feel plus with care, they will out live you. they are a little more expensive than EVA, but not much

        Thanks Roz.

Am going to make for spin. And i'm going to use cork for all my grips, i love the look and feel of it, way over eva. Shame about the guides, but them's the breaks . Do you have a regular site over there where you get your stuff from, i'm thinking of looking ahead to future projects and putting together an order to cover my next few rods as well, found two really good links for rod recipes from Gary Howard's old fishing monthly column. There's quite a few in there i want to do eventually. He has a couple for this exact blank as well, i'll probably go off one of them.

        The links. http://www.google.com/custom?q=rod+b...monthly.com.au

Some of these may be double ups.

        Cheers

Plus i've got a nice albagraph coming courtesy of another member of this forum.
