SP's work well. White is always a good colour for them. The 4" snap back has caught a few for me in the past.
Also poppers around the 35mm-60mm mark. The little Bubble Pop's are a good start
what lure have you had most luck catching tarpon with. the only thing iv got them on was a big old eddies popper that got me a bucket full of them and on gladiator prawn, but im keen to target them so id like to see what you guy have been getting lucky with.

Hi Nuggstar,
Up here they are an annoying bycatch. They get in the way of jacks and barra really.
But if you want to target them, downsize your hooks a bit on the SP's. We have found that they love the 2" pumpkinseed wrigglers, just retrieved very slowly. I was catching them last night on a 80mm black and gold squidgy fish but the hookup rate wasn't that great due to the larger hooks (which suited me fine).
Otherwise a small metal slice also seems to do the trick most of the time.
Richard
I've caught one on a rio prawn lure in the noosa river. It certainly hit it with intention.
My cousins have caught them on soft plastics before.
Cheers

tarpon love the colour white and if you have the gear for it a 4 white snapback on either a weedless/weightless hook is awsome because yu get to see the roll the lure before slaming it.
tarpon have a huge mouth and a bigger hook is better as they seem to through the smaller ones way easier. poppers are good although the hook up rate isnt.
if you have a fly rod a yellow clouser will do the trick
live prawn unwaited never miss if there around the boat. if not gobo poppers
lake police squirell medium twitch retrieve, worked well for me the last couple of nights, only 2 fish but you should have seen where i was fishing (cd creek) good luck let us know what works for you
Have caught them in North Queensland on 10-20g slices, and in South East Queensland on pearl and clear/speckled coloured slider grubs.
Cheers
Jim
Best lure ever made for tarpon is definitely a celta spinner about 40mm long. Outfishes anything else, hard bod, soft bod, top water or bottom dredges hands down. They will chase down celtas daytime and night time I think mainly due to vibration more so than flash. In Alligator Creek I have landed over a dozen good tarpon to about 2kgs in under an hour from very darkly stained freshwater. Mates and myself have used all sorts of other pures with moderate success for them but celtas are the gunn for certain and by a massive margin.
Bring out the trout lures fellas, they rule the tarpon.
Jack.
the ecogear paddletail worms in that pink colour are a fav. down caloundra way, on the surface. The new ecogear walk the dog style stickbaits look the goods, i think they are the px range.
Dunno what they're called but those white (jigs?) lightly weighted thingo's with white fluff/feathers instead of hb or plastic are tarpon magnets.
At least they were in the NT. Find where the tarpon are on the surface and retriev these fellows through almost always triggers a bite or three.
Mozza
there called marabu jigs mozza hehe iv been using them sincs i was a kid hehe in the NT as well , i have 3 of them in me tackle box now, thanks i will try them next time 4 shore. i found the tarpon and i had them crawling all oner my river 2 sea rover but could not get the hooks to stay in the big suckers on the weekend. thanks heaps guys 4 the tips, i just cant wait to get some more to show ya's
figjam
this is the funny part, the dude i was fishing with on the weekend was using a px right next to my rover hehe (yes it was the rover i bought off you) and it did not even get one look from the tarpon but they realy wanted my rover and hit it over and over again, it was awsome my legs where like jelly as these big crome monsters smashed my lure.
