Thread: Violence at EPA meetings

    Violence at EPA meetings

I was at the Sandgate meeting and what I witnessed was completely inappropriate. Someone flipped a table and another person made personal threats to an EPA officer and that was only while I was there. Violence will not stop Green Zones.

Perhaps we are 'KNUCKLE DRAGGING BOTTOM DWELLING NEANDERTHALL CREATURES' after all?!

Well done to the knuckleheads for making our task just that little bit harder - if you're reading this, give yourselves a pat on the back champions! I'm sure you can portray the events to your kids/grandkids in years to come about your heroic deeds and contributions...

flipped a table you say? that is pretty silly - you're right Shane, it will only damage our argument if this happens.

    Re: Violence at EPA meetings

Very sad indeed, what if the media had of attended.....it would be all over the evening news.

It is always such a shame to see grown men resort to violence simply because they cannot debate rationally. It plays straight into the hands of the EPA and Greens.

To be honest, as soon as I saw the meetings advertised I wondered how long it would be before some Neanderthal carried on this way.

Good on you IDIOTS job well done .

While these meetings are important to have , something tells me that nothing will change and the proposed plan will be "the' plan.
But all the same we do not need these idiots turning up to those meetings.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear they had a gut full of grog aswell.

Angry Re: Violence at EPA meetings

Flipped a table you say? I also was at this meeting and witnessed nothing like that!! (meeting was last Thursday the 24th of Jan yes?).

I was there from the start to the very end... There was one person (reportedly a trawler man) who stormed out of the venue (pushed a friend i was talking with in the process) and hit one of their many plastic leaflet stands on the way out. This did create a lot of noise as it hit the ground with paper flying everywhere (due to the chatter stopping also), but its a lot different to a table being flipped over!!! Now I don't condone this behavior at all but, i also don't like it when people exaggerate about anything but their fish sizes

I know there are other members on Ausfish that were at this meeting that can confirm my side of the story.

I didn't hear anything about an EPA employee being threatened, this may of happened and it may not have I don't know. There was quite a few heated discussions but this is to be expected!!! ( I wonder why most of the EPA employee's were young women ).

Nothing wrong with protest actions, blockades or chaining one-self to trees, bulldozers, marker bouys, artificial reefs or whatever else anyone wishes to protest about, it is a free country.

Violent threats (if this is being accuratley reported) is unwanted, and will not serve the cause in any positive way.

Priceless, one of your best. So you propose public insurrection do you?

I wonder why didn't the suffragette movment didn't try blockades or chaining themselves to things and resisting arrest?
