cressbrook bass and redclaw

well another week staying at cressbrook dam, fishing, drinking and spending some time with the family. got alot of small bass on chatterbaits,jackalls, and surface poppers,mainly fishing the weed beds at the edges, only heard of one 38cm bass over the week i was there , most were very skinny and small but fun, just dont know why these fish arnt huge with all the garfish and small guppys, should be huge but as you can see there tiny. also got afeed of redclaw and spent some time with the kids fishing for gar and bass which they enjoyed. heres some piccys of the trip. cheers bdowdy...brett[ATTACH]sum[/ATTACH]

i havent really ever caught a huge bass there and i go two to three times a month. the misses got a 43 there once but that is the bigest i have heard of.
] good to fish with the kids though as they arent really picky and when there on they are on

hi zaraspook my biggest is 45cm on a surface lure ( WALKING THE DOG) technique, but as you said the kids love this place thats why we keep going back, they ask us , most trips ive picked up a 40cm or close enough to it but this trip the rats were out to play.cheers bdowdy...brett

hi steve the redclaw numbers arnt huge ive only ever got a few just enough for a few on my steak while there but they are good size, dont know i might be using the wrong bait (CAT FOOD) have always got enough for me and the family. biggest one i have caught is in photo below . cheers bdowdy...brett[ATTACH]sum[/ATTACH]

I got a 53cm (to the tip not the fork) on a charter with Jason Erhlic a few years ago. We were throwing sliders at the edge. Caught a heap of fish but this was the biggest by far.

My brother goes there often and over the years since we've never caught another one even close to 50cm. They must be there somewhere....

have to agree ,heard plenty of storys of big bass coming out of there ,but as i said there so skinny,dont know what the problem is and were all those big fish have gone, maybe has copped a fair flogging, and people arnt releasing them. cheers bdowdy...brett

Caught a nice 43cm to the fork last winter on gobo popper, it had a big red sore on its dorsal fin. may be something to do with low water levels. Hope this has nothing to do with lack of big fish.

hi ethan all fish caught the other day looked fine just skinny, thats a nice fish 43cm , and great fun. i got 7 in a hour and a half the other day there and had a ball never tire of watching fish surface hit, cheers bdowdy...brett
