Good on ya , glad to see you had some fun , and caught some nice fish . North Straddie sure is a nice place . Look forward to reading your next report .
Thanks for the good read Kev
Hello, I went to Amity Point for 2 nights with my mum. When we arrived on the island we thought wow this is nice and peaceful. Anyway we put up our tent, then I chose to go and have a fish. I decided to get a bag of Hardiheads from the local store. I threw my line out near the mesh of the swimming net, BANG i'm on to a decent size Bream, after a minute fight with some headshakes and runs I get him up to the Pier, my biggest Bream so far 26cm. Couple of casts later BANG i'm on yet again to another nice Bream at 24cm. I then decided to cast down below the pier. Down below the pier I brought up, 4 Happy Moments, 2 Silver Trevally and a Bream.
That night I decided to go for another fish with just one of my bait jigs. That night I pulled up 4 Butter Bream, 1 Pike and a Bream.
5.30am Next morning decided to go for a live bait session of the pier. A nice guy called Callum was fishing there with plastics. Callum caught a Pike and a Slimy Mackeral. We then started talking and then became mates. We threw out the Slimy out as there were Mack Tuna over 75Kg and a metre leaping for Baitfish. I then started throwing out a slug on my other rod, looking for a Dirty Pike for some more Bait. Anyway that morning was Brilliant even though nothing took the bait and I didn't catch anything all the less. We saw some Mack Tuna jumping and some Dolphins feeding!
Next day, my mum and I decide to go for a swim on Point Lookout beach, the weather was brilliant so was the sea. When we got back to Amity I chose to go for a Slug session in hope for a Tailor or Trevally, Caught nothing but a Seagull which some lads named Michael and Dom helped me to release.
That night at 6.30pm, Michael, Dom and I decided to go for a session of the pier. All we got were some Squid and Squire.
Last morning of the my camping trip 5.00am, I decide to go for a session on the beach near the 2nd rock wall to the left of the pier. I chose to take some Pillies down and a rod with a Slug on it. First cast with the Pillie I got smashed by a big Tailor! What a good fight until I beached the Big Fello, I then measured him, he went at 44cm to the tip of his tail! The biggest I've ever caught!!! I then get a photo and I hand him to Doms Dad to keep as one of the gangs was making him bleed all over the place poor guy I would have released him if he wasn't in such a bad state! I then loose all my bait to Bream and little guys. Head back to camp with a smile on my face but a dull one at the same time from killing the Tailor.
Altogether my Mum and I had a great time and hope to go to Tangalooma or Straddie again.
Here are some photos of the trip.

Good on ya mate!
I spent the best part of my youth at Amity, school holidays, weekends, and still get over there when I can. Looks like you had good weather, it blew the dog off it's chain over Xmas/New Year.
That 2nd groyne is a hot spot on the turn of the tide with an unweighted hardihead or livie, but don't tell anyone OK
whats making the splash in the last pic mate?
Some good pics and a top report!
Congrats mate!
That is a top report young fella. Keep them up
Would be good to see some of our young contributors awarded a prize for things like this ??????
