Somewhere on the Hards yesterday
Left mooloolaba 11 am yesterday and headed north east. Around 2 hours later fished spots 30 nm north east of noosa. As for debut in area caught a few keepers but there were plenty of small stuff out there. Double header pearlies, just under legal reds and a few squire and gold spot wrasse. Fish didn't start biting till around 6pm. headed for home about 630 pm as conditions were ordinary and got back to Point Cartwright just after 930pm. After being dropped off at pontoon to whack the trailer in the drink two nearby prawn heads that were fishing off the pontoon at labalsa decided it would be a good idea to cast there lines at the boat for disturbing them and both landing in the boat. I politely told them with a few expletives that boats have right of way on that pontoon over fisher peoples. Anybody else had dramas like that there?

Re: Somewhere on the Hards yesterday
I use that ramp alot and there is always people fishing off the pontoon but I have never had an experience of aggression yet. I guess it's just a matter of time.
On a brighter note, what was the final count of your catch and how where you fishing, bottom bashers, floaters, plastics, etc.?
Did you manage to take any pics?
Thanks

Re: Somewhere on the Hards yesterday
Yolo, we finished up with a couple of pearlies around the 40cm mark and a gold spot wrasse. A lot of just undersized stuff out there. We fish the bottom with running ball sinkers and patternoster rigs. It was a bit how you going out there to anchor up and burley so drifted whole time. Had sea anchor out as it was blowing around 20knts which was pushing the boat along a bit. Not much current out there though. Would have been good to stay out there till moon came up but pulled the pin as a long way to get home punching onto 1.5 to 1.8 chop on a 1.5.swell in the dark. No pics were taken as not really worth it.

Re: Somewhere on the Hards yesterday
JB, The hooks from the lines were caught on the gunnel so they did lose a fair bit of line while my mate was idling around waiting for me to put the trailer in the drink. Lucky he never got hooked. People like those clowns will one day ruin it for all the other fishos that do the right thing off that pontoon.

Re: Somewhere on the Hards yesterday
adds31,
It is amazing sometimes getting back there as you are lining up the pontoon to see people not even thinking about moving still with their feet over the edge.
On the flip side every now or then a young kid yells throw us the rope and helps out.
I did have a mate launch from Nudgee Beach a while ago and on his return (he was alone) he tied up to the pontoon, didn't take much notice of the kids on it and when he had the boat out and putting the tie downs on he noticed his takle box and a couple of rods were gone. Pinched whilst getting his car.
