Maroon 26/01/08
Went for a fish on Maroon Dam yesterday. Water quality was poor to say the least with an alagal bloom in full swing, visibility was 30cm MAX. With that in combination with no weed beds in sight (at least 4m underwater since the rains) fishing wasn't looking to great, but the fish didn't seem bothered.
We were on within 10 minutes and ended up with 9 bass to 38cm and a 39cm golden perch for our efforts. The fish seemed to be right up around the flooded vegetation.
My mate had not caught a bass before this trip even after 4 solid trips, I had a grand total of 3 bass under my belt before this as well. All in all a great day but surface action definitely wasn't on the cards, fish responded best to a slow rolled soft plastic bounced along the bottom in 1-5m of water (preferably gulp for the scent).

Thanks. From a boat, I reckon it'd be pretty damn tricky to fish that dam land based.

I had two Maroon Bass for tea last night. They tasted awful! Like drinking pond water.
