In keeping with a family tradition of boating for Australia Day, we strapped the flags to the boat and headed for Toorbul and the passage.
We dropped the crab pots and headed directly across from the ramp. My daughter managed to hook a good 'ting (to use a T1 ism) but lost it at the boat . Weather was not so pleasant so we moved to the shelter of Elimbah Creek.
After moving a couple of times we ended up drifting the banks for the turn of the high tide. My wife, Tracey, out fished us all with a bream and two grunters (biggest went 35 cm) while I managed a nice 'ting (28 cm). Unfortunately the wind and tide made beach cricket impossible, but we did get two nice sandies in the pots and the kids got to test out the new ski tube from Santa .
All fishing was done on live beach worms as bait.
Hope everyone had a great Australia Day!
