    Sunny Coast in the Wind

Decided to head up to the Sunny coast to do some fishn with Will (basskid).
We started off in one of wills new secret spots and straight away were onto fish. Will started off well by hooking good sized GT which he got right up to the bank and when he tried to land it, the 3lb FC wore though.. bye bye $20 Japanese HB

We both continued on and caught numerous little bream on Jackall chubbys and Bassday Sugar deeps. Will tied on another Jap lure that i cannot remember the name off and once again hooked up to something big in tight structure. the fish kept darting back into the snags and after a short tussle we saw that red flash Fishing 3lb FC straight through, he was lucky to get the Jack out of the structure it came from and i managed to land it for him. It went 35cm to the fork and after a few pics it was released.

We both hooked a few more GTs but lost em all.. after taking long runs they all threw the hooks.. quite dissapointing, but then again.. very lucky to have our lures back!
We persisted with the howling winds and still got quite a more bream, that elusive big bream didnt want to show its face today and the biggest we managed only went just under 30cm to the fork.

After a while of getting small bream and even a few very small jacks, including my first ever! I decided to switch to a plastic to chase the GTs. I fished for a while without any luck until i through a wide cast over a shallow rock bar which i retrieved very quickly, and out of no where a nice size GT smashed the 3inch atomic jerkshad off the surface! It put up a decent fight and we managed to land this one We got a few pics again and set him on his way.

We decided to call it quits and head home to plan for the next days session.

With the intention of getting some trevally early we headed to the same spot and tried fishing specifically for them. Will had learnt from his mistakes and upped his line to 6lb PE braid and 5lb leader, while i stayed with 3lb braid and 4lb leader.

Within the first 10min i had been busted off by one suspected jack that took me straight into some rocks and one suspected GT that just popped the 4lb leader like cotton... Stuff this I thought and I gave up on chasing any of them, So i tied on a jackall Chubby in Ghost Wakasagi colour and guess what happens next!
Another GT smashes the chubby 1m off the bank and goes on a massive run almost spooling me on its first run! I got a few meters back on him and he took off again heading straight for a jetty and the 4lb leader wore through

That was about it for me, Will continued to slay the bream whilst I managed a couple. Jackall Chubbys were the lure of the day, catching most of our fish.

Gear used by Will was a Custom built rod matched with a brand new Daiwa Emeraldas 2506 that was very impressive. I used a Daiwa Airity 2000 matched to a loomis imx sr842 rod.

    Cheers

Hey nabs. some nice fish there, sounds like you lads had a bit of fun. Was wondering what you thought of the imx sr842. I havent picked 1 up for a while but from memory they are very soft rod with a real slow action. I was thinking of one for a hardbody rod. Do you use yours souly for hb's or do the placcies get a run aswell?

Hey Whytey, It is a very soft rod.. a bit softer than the GLX version. I predominantly use it for HB and its great. Very sensitive and loads up very nicely. Ive also used it for fishing SPs and it does that fine too. I've pretty much used it in most breaming situations you find around here and I havent had any issues.

Nice fish boys. You guys put plenty in and got the reward for it. Must hurt when you lose those jap lures. Bloody good work on light string.

Well done boys you got a good spot up there. I seem to only set hooks on the hardbodies and just touches on the plastics. As a plastics boy i find just like you boys as well that HBs are dear and costly to lose. Do you have a trick for your plastic hook ups. I had a mate on board who let the line go open spool and give him more time to set while i was catchen SFA with the 2 " nuchlear chicken grubtail as he was. What are your thoughts on the problem due to my snapper tapping and then engulfing it with huge runs the brim are finiky little **ts.
