    Ausfish Server Issues???

Just noticing a lot of late that anywhere from 7:30pm onwards most nights that the pages become slow to load and even have troubles logging onto Ausfish often getting this message.

    The connection has timed out

The server at www.ausfish.com.au is taking too long to respond.

    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

    What is everyone else experiencing?

    Thanks,

    Poodroo

    Woefully slow here, on broadband.
Too many big adservers and banners....but, I'll get over it....
(and please dont respond with a post saying get Mozilla....)

    Re: Ausfish Server Issues???

Just one of those things with the number of people looking at the site.
It's a bit like the line to the sheila's dunnies on a Saturday night in the valley.
Too many people all wanting to do the same thing.
Just look at it as a gauge of success.
A few neddy furums the cook visits are just the same.
If Ausfish wasn't so good you'd be able to do what-ever you want when you want.

    Days are great

    PS we have Mozilla too
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

Thanks, am aware of it. Mainly in peak times around 7pm.

Have another server upgrade planned. Will take about a week by the time the parts arrive and everything is swapped over.

    Re: Ausfish Server Issues???

    Hey Steve, just a thought.....
Site was crap to log into tonight at 8:48 my time.
I noted that there were 200 members and 349 guests viewing our pages...
Whilst I know it can be a sticky point, how about changing the V-Bull settings to make voyeurs register to view posts?
The situation whereby you allow guests to view, and then make a decision to join would no doubt be gone now with this forum??? The 'client' base is huge.

    Re: Ausfish Server Issues???

would sort out the greenies and anti fishing mobs locking up server resources.....

other option is load balance across two replicated servers using an F5 box or similar??
    Cheers,
    Chris

DR you really don't want to know.
Just turn around and pretend you saw nothing.

    Re: Ausfish Server Issues???

Last few days have been shocking.
Noted the other night, at 'prime time' some 700 viewers....only 150 odd were members. The rest surely are bots etc.
How is the new server going Pete?
If I were on dial up, I would no doubt given up on Ausfish by now! Its bad enough on ADSL!
I notice the hang ups on actually displaying the site are whilst the browser waits for media on network etc... is there any way maybe to make them secondary to the main site? Or just get that big new server cranked up!
