Can anyone give me any info on these Tributes .I am looking for a smaller 4x4 and just wondering if any ausfisher has owned one and what they are like .
The ones Im currently looking at are 2001 models with around 70k on the clock .

Thanks for your kind reply Gawb I guess Im like a shiela and cant make up my mind so Ill keep seeking until I find what the leader of the opposition likes and allows me to indulge..

Neighbours have one, lovely town car, nice country tourer, not a serious off roader I'd suggest. Can't see why it shouldn't cope with beach and boat ramps - maybe only up to a medium size tinny?
Lots of plastic and velour inside - about standard these days.
What was interesting is that the front rotors needed to be replaced with the first pad change - just one of those things, apparently.
maybe a speedier and less fuel economical (?) alternative to an Xtrail?
we use to have a ""tribute 4x4 drive day "" for those that purchased new vehicles,,,,, at my last place of work,,,,,
venue was either the 4x4 training paddock at the back of narangba,,,, or we hit the barge and travelled up to the cherry venture and a bit of sand work/play
cars were good on the dirt,,,, but they do have problems in the softer sand,,, especially with gearbox overheating
4cyl's are well underpowered here,,, the v6's were'nt to bad,,,, i use to have the green bravo c/chassis then,,,, used it as a ""recovery truck"",,, kept me busy,,, not through fault of the tributes,,,mainly through lack of knowledge of the driver
Had a 2001 Tribby. Comfortable, quick but a bit thirsty for its size. The auto gear lever was a pain and bells rang every time it detected small things like no seat belt, etc, etc which used to drive me nuts. Surprisingly agile off road and I used to tow a 5.5m Quinnie - in fact went from Sydney to Cairns with it on the back without problems. With good tyres you might be happy. Have a Prado these days and they are chalk n cheese offroad.
There are a few forums, mostly US based, which have lots of people who love them with photos of Tribbys doing wild things offroad.
