Townsville land based

Hey all, I don't know if this is the right spot for this and it's my first post so bare with me! I live in Brisbane but work in Townsville week on week off. My job entails a fair bit of downtime so I want to bring some gear and have a crack land based to pas the time. I am very much a beginner and will be using bait, no SP's for me yet!! Can anyone help me with some spots to try? I am based on the strand when I am up there so spots around there would be good, but i'm willing to travel to anywhere I might get some action!!!

Strand rockpool is the go, or you could try off the breakwalls behind the casino.
