After the recent heavy rains it's pretty lousy. (possibly worse than you last saw it)

I was out there today and it was churned up. You have to take it very easy, especially if you are towing a boat.

If you don't go dead slow along the worse stretches your boat (and possibly your car) are probably going to get damaged.

In a few spots I almost felt like I was back on Fraser Island letting the fourbie follow the deep ruts! (fun sometimes, but not when your boat is bouncing around)

The dam looks impressive now the water level has risen. There's a lot of excellent new territory that's opened up now, including lots of overhanging braches with cicadas going off (where's my poppers!) and thousands of new submerged snags. Should be great for the future of the fishing there. (if only the @##$%^ road was repaired/maintained a little more)

the road would stay reasonably good if everyone took there time into there but there is always the odd few who will go at 100mph and cut it to ribbons ,tony how high has the water come up?

    Hi Warrior,

It's risen approx. 1.5 meters (at a guess), which means the "moonscape" has dissapeared completely. It's a whole new ball park now!

Here's a shot from next to the boat ramp to give you an idea. Check out all the submerged shrubbery on the far side.

I only took the one pic to get a shot of my boat in the water, but there's more pics on Paul Dolans report on the fish stocking at http://www.frasercoastsportfishing.com/ which give a better idea of how it looks now.

    Cheers
    Tony

edit: Sorry the detail in the photo aint so good scaled down, you can't really see the shrubbery I'm talking about - but gee my boat looks good

    Re: Road into Lenthalls

    Thanks Trev and Whitto

Yep I'm ashamed to say that's boat #23, I just love them all! So many boats so little time

Since the barra bug bit a few years back I've gradually been downsizing my boat and now I've resigned to the fact that most of my fishing time will be in sweet water so said goodbye to the deep v's.

I'm very impressed with the hornet, and the zuke on the back does the job nicely!

edit: sorry - didn't mean to hijack your post Paul!

Your fine Tony,Very tasty boat,Thanks to everyone for their update on the road, and I agree that if everyone slowed up a bit it would last longer between grades. I was wondering, regarding damage to vehicles, cars and boats whether WBW ought to be careful. Lenthalls is advertised widely as a destination so surely theres a duty of care on their part to make sure people arrive safely.

I don't know about the others that have replied, It looks like they have missed a couple of things about that photo (or have I got it wrong), thats one big 6hp motor and it seems we have gone back in time (2003), correct me if Im wrong, Cheers Whitto

    Re: Road into Lenthalls

    Hi Whitto,

It sure is a big 6hp - in fact the 6 has a zero after it

It's a Suzuki 60hp 4 Stroke which as a 3 Star OEDA engine is within the requirements for boating on Lenthalls.

Sounds like you might not have heard about the new rules that came in as of last December

Speed Limit 6 knots - no wash and no skiing
    • 4-Stroke and Direct Injection 2-Stroke engines up to 60hp. This equates to all 2 & 3 Star OEDA (Outboard Engine Distributors Association) rated engines.
    • 1 to 6hp traditional 2-Strokes (0 and 1 star OEDA rated) permitted until January 2010.
Re the date - sorry yes that's confusing. The picture really was taken yesterday whilst we were at the dam stocking Bass. My 3 yr old been playing with the camera and I hadn't fixed it. Sorry if this caused any confusion!

For the full details re the current requirements for boating on Lenthals check out the following link:

Sorry mate - wasn't fishing there I Better remember to fix that camera though! Thanks for the reminder!

    Cheers

I hear you Mark. There was a car broken down out there yesterday just after one of the rougher parts, plus I have heard of several other people with damage to boats and cars.

The following is a quote from a pm I sent to someone earlier on this subject as I'm too lazy to type it again:

"28 years ago I was in my sisters Corolla heading home from a fun day at Wongai waterhole. A wanna be rally driver in a a 351 fairlane hit us head on after he came flying over a hill in the middle of the road - we rolled end over end 3 times and I still remember it like it was yesterday!"

Now that was 28 years ago and the road is no better today.... Go figure, sometimes progress is selective I guess.

    Cheers
    Tony

    Here's another picture for Whitto
THIS one is a doctored pic - sorry mate can't help myself sometimes

I removed the date which shouldn't be there, plus I've edited in the culprit that caused this to happen!

    Can you spot the difference?

Sorry - but sometimes if you can't beat these 3 year olds you hafta join em and realise it's best to just have fun (beats cryin)
