Planning to go there at opening barra season on the barra charter (2 weeks away).
Doubt would the system recover in same time barra season opens after flood?
now is prime time for barra, the fresh really fires them up, its just a pity that its still closed season, we aren't even allowed to target them. All you really need to look out for is the odd debris floating down the creek. The crabbing should improve in the upper reaches as the crabs make their way back to their territory, fishing should be on fire with the dirty water in the creeks, and the extra fresh, it pushes bait downstream, and they get swept out in the open, making it easier for the predators.
My only rea concern for you would be the crocs, there are plenty of em in the haughton, and good rain (like we've just had) triggers their breeding cycle, so some might give you a bit more attention than normal. But just use common sense, don't leave scraps, or bait on the ramps and it is recommended that evry fish is netted, no matter how small, as if a croc sees you doing it all the time, they will begin to associate you with food, and give you even more unwanted attention.
Don't forget to bathe in repellent for a week preceding, so it soaks right in and the mozzies and sandflies leave you be.
