    Cattle creek

    Hey all,
Ive fished the mighty cattle creek only once but have had great success, was only flicking lures around there. Was about 1 month ago however.
I was just curious as to the supposed shipwreck that is situated in the mouth of the creek, have never seen it personally but mates that fish it regulary say that it was an old trawler that sunk there and people burnt it out. The mast apparently sticks out of the water on low tide.
just curious to know what everyone else knows about it.

    Cheers,
    Gilli

    Re: Cattle creek

The old trawler is at the back of the first big sand spit on the right hand side as you enter the main body of the creek. I used to be visible around the mid to low tides. personally haven't fished it but I presume it would gather some quality fish.

Cattle is one of those creeks that always tends to fire up and the good thing is that you have to be fairly serious about your fishing to get to it. So there are always fish in the creek. Telling you where they are, well you know us fishos, we never give up the secrets too easily!!!

    hey levinge,
lol mate dont worry you dont have to give up your secret spots. Know how it is. I pulled in a few little fish off the wreck but no keepers really and havent seen the wreck myself, only been told about it.

Barkers creek, would be excellent if you posted up some fotos of your catch.

    Re: Cattle creek

    hey,
this arvo i went up to cattle with a mate, we caught only a few tarpon on soft plastics, sight casting them. i seen the shipwreck for the first time, its just the a-frame of the boat as the rest is under the sand. gotta wonder how long it has been there for. Steve Irwan used that creek for all the croc dumping, thats where he released all the crocs he caught down south, most of them live in big cattle creek.

    cheers
