Hi all you rod experts out there:
Yep thought i'd sweeten you up first before an interesting question about repairing my rod.
First, im from the Redlands south of Brisbane, but have re-located temporally to the west coast of France (since april 2007). After little while here, i realised i could fish for the local sportfish ''le bar'' or otherwise known as in english as Seabass.
So i bought a way overpriced yet beautiful rod from the local tackle shop. Its a Shimano Technium DF AX 270H. I had only used it a few times before it was broken accidentally in a mates car. In fact he slid the seat back and the rod was on a bad angle and in the wrong place and it broke the male part of the join.
Otherwise, its still a fantastic, like new 6month old, 2 piece that can't be used...
I took it back to the shop where i bought it and he called the shimano reps in France and they said because it was broken by accident they couldnt replace it and also said its virtually inpossible to repair because the male part of the join is glued in place..
Sorry for all the details but the question is: do i put it in the bin or try and repair it??
The obvious answer is repair, but having said that i have virtually no tools here and i'm in France, far away from my garage in OZ and reputable rod repairers are very rare in this part of France and even less likely that they will speak English!!
I can send photos if needed, but dont have any right now.
Thanks for your help and advice in advance.
Michael
