catfish
Hi all
We used to go camping a lot and one of the dads used to cook catties but i cant remember how. i think they were eel tails from somerset.

Had a feed of eeltail cattie from the Condamine just a couple of weeks ago while staying at my parents place. Grew up on the stuff.
Have to skin them though, I just use pliers and peel it off. Then hand it to Mum and say go for it.
Lightly dusted in salted flour and straight into the pan....simple as, no need for any marinades, sauces or what have you. If anything, a little vinegar can be nice.
Beautiful sweet meat. It amazes me how many people don't eat them, I guess it's because they look like something from another planet.
My wife is quite fussy with fish and she loved it.

eel tails are superior fish, much better than your regular catties. They sell pangasius species over here in the supermarkert. It is often good, but I don't eat it now. These are skinned, but some still have a muddy taste. I wouldn't eat a catty from the Bremer/Brisbane river system.
