monkey
yep it's that time of year again to dust off the casty and head down to the creeks but after the rain I'd say look a little further down stream as there should be a few around now as it's january and nice and steamy.
the banana's are good eating and grow to a large size and make excellent bait too.
so any lower reaches of the rivers north of the logan and including it would be worth a look.
pickers
Cheers Pickers for the info, can you see them on the surface or do you look for anything specific??
Hey monkey, the sign you look for is the other 200 boats & especially the ones with the Asian appearance. Not being a racist but they know what their doing.
"We gave Howard the Arse now we have to fix Rudd"
"Now we have to sort Gillard" F@?k me RUDD again
Abbott and Newman what a great next few years "NOT"
I did a search with " Yellow Coats' as my search words and came up with an oldy but one of the best threads you'll read about prawning. Even Touchy ( may he rest in peace) had some input.

To sum it up, wait till mid March and they will start showing up North of Brisbane in places like Glass House Mountain creek, then Shultz Canal, Tingalpa creek. Early to late April usually sees the last of the Prawn run in the Logan. But every year you'll get variations according to the weather, but they follow this general pattern.

"not being racist"!
You just called him monkey.....![]()
anyone got spare seat on their boat so I can have a go at getting some prawns, I've got a cast net, can throw in a some dollars towards fuel. I'm in Marsden. Cheers.
Was down the tweed yesterday at Chinderah. Birds were working patches here and there and there was a few fish hitting the surface as well.
Was casting plastics (land based) and the stray prawn would turn up on the bank (obviously copped a hit from a bird), straight on the hook. Got a few little bream and a cod.
Watched a bloke pull a nice 40 - 45cm jack too. Was jealous as.
But there must have been quite a few prawns out there.
Bondy, I posted up in your other thread about prawns.anyone got spare seat on their boat so I can have a go at getting some prawns, I've got a cast net, can throw in a some dollars towards fuel. I'm in Marsden. Cheers.
I have a boat, I know roughly where and when then prawns should be there.
I have a cast net but don't know how to throw it.
You can come with me if you show me how to throw the bloody net.
PM me.
Cheers,
Shane
Shane,
On this site,on the tool bar, there are som good video images,on how to throw them.
David
Thanks David, I tried both methods on there and I wasn't really getting a feel for either. I need to practice a lot more, but I find it hard to watch some video, race outside and throw the net, then untangle it, then race in and watch the video again, and try to work out what went wrong.
Perhaps I should video my attempts and then analyze them like golfers do with thier swing? - amazing I didn't think of that before
What area do you live shane? I might be able to give you a few tips. But it's the old school over the shoulder routine.
