Tjaart also caught a shovelnose and a hammerhead at the same spot I believe. Meanwhile, I was out in the boat wasting petrol for not a sniff of activity.

thats awesome mate
Note to self to catch a cod use a small brim for bait. Freaky man freaky.
they are hungry little basterds........once something enters that "bum hole" down their throught it sure as hell isnt comming out!
nice catch what looks like an undersize bream, but a legal size cod.
did u keep the cod?
similar event happened a few years ago drifting over buckleys hole here on the island,,,, albeit the bait was a smaller bream and was terrorized by the mother of all flathead,,,,,,
the bream was foul hooked,,, and when the flattie grabbed it she was hooked thru the bottom lip
got her up to the side of the boat,,, and a twist of the pliers had her on her way again
not surprising that a cod would grab something in distress,,,, i bet the old adrenalin was pumping a bit,,,,,,,,,,
good catch
choppa
can it get any better??????????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgG_TxEPaQE
Quite a long time ago I had a similar experience but in this case it was a flathead that took my poor bream. Nice cod.

Thanks for the replies, the cod was about 50cm to 55cm and the bream about 15cm. Both fish survived and I released them back into the water.
I have attached the photo of the hammer head my friend's daughter caught using prawn .
