    Re: Crystal fireline?

i have a spool of 4lb i use for bream.
seems like good stuff, caught plenty of good fish on it,

the only downside is you cant watch for twitches in the line as easily as with the yellow or pink. I guess as a more finesse line when the fish are picky its great but yeah a little hard to see smaller touches,

but yeah you will like it get out and smak some fish
    Cheers,

    Ben

    G"day barra
i also use the 4lb and have no probs with it
however i did have probs with the 2lb, tying a simple not and it just fell apart, took the line back ( still on reel ) and showed them, he respooled the reel with a new batch

I have been using 8lb on my main placky rod for over a year now. It has stood up very well. It seems about the same diameter as the normal stuff so is thicher for a given breaking strain than a true braid but also breaks well above the stated strength

I've had 2 bad batches in the 2lb & 4lb crystal & won't buy it again but still use fireline in the pink & green with no problems..

The problems I had in the crystal was random breaking in the line it was never break at the knot but just random spots in the braid itself which is quite annoying when you are in bream tournament..

    Re: Crystal fireline?

Ive been using crystal for about a year now and havent had any major issues with it until today i found it was snapping about an inch from where iwa joining my leader to it and a couple of times in random spots. This spool has also started to fluff a lot quicker then my previous ones hopefully its 1 off bad spool.
It is definatly less trouble the standard fireline imo.

I'm with Horse, I use 8lb on the bay and haven't had any problems to date and has good knot strength.

Well I tried it on a few bass at Cania today and it seemed to be fine with some 10lb mono leader.

Went off too on the light stuff!

I have a 4lb crystal, and I like it, sometimes it breaks about an inch after tying a knot but If it breaks I re-tie the knot and test it. After that it is fine.
