    placing a Epirb

    afternoon ausfishers

with this rain hanging about, cant really work outdoors so im in the shed tinkering with the boat, just curious to where PPL have there Epirb placed, had mine under the console but am thinking of replacing it to somewere a bit more eye contacting and ease of grabbing, note i have a center console, any ideas?

    thanks

thanks Matt, just tried that but sticks out to much, console is 1200mm wide
the seats i have, has pockets on the back of them, do you think it would be wise to put it in there?

put it in a spot you can get to when the boat is overturned

Because you will have little or no chance of activating it when a freak wave is rolling the boat over

Not a good pic, but here is mine on the front of the centre console, just to the right and above the orange sticker. in my face and easy to get to, and still mostly out of the spray etc.

                    Re: placing a Epirb

I recall a recent accident where the boat overturned and sunk like a stone before the crew could dive under and get the epirb.
I have 2 ,so one is clipped onto the end of the side pockets and one is loose in a basket between the seats.

The pockets behind the seats should be alright daz as long as the aerial doesnt get knocked around.

rubba.I believe you have a bit of experience in this department.
Where was the epirb in your last boat and were you able to activate it?

and by "everything" in the grabbag .What else do you have at the ready?.
