bulwer and surrounding areas

heading over to moreton next weekend for 5 days. staying in a house at bulwer.

just after any tips of where to fish? are the wrecks any good? im only landbased .


also where are some good snorkeling areas?

. any pics of catches around this area would be awesome to get me geed up for it

gday Daniel, we used to get sweetlip, squire, tarwine, big bream, trevors and some mega un-stopables night fishin at the Bulwer wrecks, but I dont know what the condition of the structure is like now, have a snorkel on the top of the tide, that should give a few hints.
Some good land based shark fishing at night if youre that way inclined.

do you have a 4x4 if so there is plenty of places to go, one place is yellow patch. The surf beach will produce Bream, whiting, flathead and also taylor but not too many at this time of the year. also pippies all along the beach for bait

There is plenty of great fishing over there.
During daytime around wrecks i have caught plenty of whiting on live worms i dig before i go over,just to the south seems best.
Northern beaches and up to north point are great for bream,dart tailor and flatties,back around wrecks at night on flesh baits we have caught a lot of bream,but your bait has to be fresh.

There's great snorkelling at the wrecks at Tangalooma. Time your swim for the change of tide unless you want to spend your time fighting the current. The top of the tide usually produces better visibility than the low.

Even the shallow wrecks at Bulwer are worth a look. A few years back my kids were visited by a large turtle who stayed with them for ten minutes or so. At sunset you normally see a few dolphins swim past Bulwer - maybe on their way to Tangalooma for a free feed.

mate it s well worth the effort to jig some live squid for bait.
You can find them between the diamonds marking the start and finish of curtin reef, the best jig colours are orange and green.
I ll also agree with Brian the shark fishing is great around there.

Went there last week for 4 days and got a couple of chopper tailor and some nice whiting. Got the tailor early in the morning on lures and whiting all day long on fresh worms. (Enough for a fresh fish sandwhich or two for lunch). We only fished at Yellow Patch due to the conditions,

go north around comby point dan. it's always nice around there in a south easter. the big swells we've been having apparently push bigger fish around the back (western beach) of moreton too.

Balloon some livies out over the curtin reef just south of bulwer.
