    Townsville F,F'n'F

Just putting an idea out there for a Townsville Fish, Feed 'n' Frosties (not calling a M&G, the fish go into hiding).

I cooked up a vague idea at work today (when the weather and water cleans up a bit) that maybe a few of us in Townsville could put together a day where a few boat owners (or like me, borrowers) would agree to take a few people out for a day on the water around Maggie, finished up with a BBQ and a couple of beers.

I had the idea that when the water is clean and the weather is kind, we would have plenty of options for a day of fishing, snorkeling, or boating (if we don't catch anything) around maggie, meeting up on the Island somewhere afterwards for a barbie, not unlike the last M&G. I figure we would have several options for around the Island, whether it be bottom bashing with baits, casting placcies/hardbodies, trolling for pelagics around westpoint, or beacon bashing for some macks, or a bit of snorkeling and spear fishing.

Just wondering how many (if any) boaties would be willing to offer their services to others without a boat to join in on the fun? Also is there any beach on Maggie where we could pull up and make use of public BBQ's or set up a small portable at the end of the day? I figure the situation would be that any one without a boat would sling a few bucks to their skipper to cover bait/fuel and tackle. I think it would be easier in most boats to just have the one tackle box on board as, like always, no matter how many people on board, space is the hardest thing to find, but its up to the skipper ultimately.

If anyone is interested please post here so I get a rough idea on how many skipper's and passenger's we could potentially have, and any boaties, please include number of passengers they could take aboard.

Myself, I could take up to 3 others, this would make fishing a bit cramped, but still manageable, though 2 will have to sit on some sort of fold up chair or an esky. I have the ability to take up to 100L of fuel, but I doubt we'll need that much.

Obviously, it wouldn't take place for a while, maybe when the weather has cooled off a bit, and conditions are more comfortable. Are there any others interested?

    Scott,

Sounds like a great idea. Depending on the date and time I will be in and will be able to take atleast 2 maybe 3, depends on if my usual deckie wants to come, don't want to be too cramped, wish I had a walkaround or a CC sometimes.

If it during soccer season it will depend on if we are playing on that day.

    Cheers Rod....

Sounds like a good idea, I've a 4m side consoles and room for 1 extra if my missus comes along. although that could change around April as I am moving plans along to purchase a 5.5m Centre Cab from Brissie, if I have that I would be about to take up to 3 to 4 extra after the wife. 50litre in the 4m and 150litre in the 5.5m

    But interested none the less..

Kagey1 - no not yet, have a couple of loose ends to tie up before I move on the Formosa. Jason gave me a call the other day and let me know that Formosa plan a price increase, but that shouldn't affect me still buying one. At this stage I will be ready around March/April to get stuck into the order..

Yeah I was thinking around April, as it would give us plenty of time to get organized and it should be a bit cooler, and with that bring on some early season macks.

I was also thinking that if anyone's wife (or in some cases, husband) and kids didn't want to fish, maybe we could ferry some over to Maggie first so they could have a day over there whilst we have a fish.

    Bags me a passenger seat!!
But only if I am not working that weekend.
Would take my boat out, but it is a 4.3m v-nose punt, and it don't do waves. Will be home for the opening of the barra season though and might require a decky.

April see's the start of the soccer season for me so if I were to able to make it would have to be on the day we didnt play.

Cory, theres a seat for you on my boat if you want.

Should co-incide with my holidays. Count Hot Chilli in! Will happily take a child and parent to keep self and son (+/- wife) company. Boat fits 5 with space (max load). Will need a bit of lead time with date so I don't get "prioritized" into something else. Soccer may be an issue for me too.

Yeah i think thats a great idea, i got my 4m and should be able to take one extra person plus my usual deckie. Any day should be a good day for me. got 52 litres of fuel so i should make it around fairly easily.

    Cheers,
    Gilli

Most sports require one ball..... Fishing requires two

I would love to jump in with someone, would be good if the missus could find a spot too. Would need to have a chat before blast off to get some tips.

I'm in boys. Let me know when what etc. At this stage, no boat for me, so any spare seats would be happily accepted
