Just putting an idea out there for a Townsville Fish, Feed 'n' Frosties (not calling a M&G, the fish go into hiding).
I cooked up a vague idea at work today (when the weather and water cleans up a bit) that maybe a few of us in Townsville could put together a day where a few boat owners (or like me, borrowers) would agree to take a few people out for a day on the water around Maggie, finished up with a BBQ and a couple of beers.
I had the idea that when the water is clean and the weather is kind, we would have plenty of options for a day of fishing, snorkeling, or boating (if we don't catch anything) around maggie, meeting up on the Island somewhere afterwards for a barbie, not unlike the last M&G. I figure we would have several options for around the Island, whether it be bottom bashing with baits, casting placcies/hardbodies, trolling for pelagics around westpoint, or beacon bashing for some macks, or a bit of snorkeling and spear fishing.
Just wondering how many (if any) boaties would be willing to offer their services to others without a boat to join in on the fun? Also is there any beach on Maggie where we could pull up and make use of public BBQ's or set up a small portable at the end of the day? I figure the situation would be that any one without a boat would sling a few bucks to their skipper to cover bait/fuel and tackle. I think it would be easier in most boats to just have the one tackle box on board as, like always, no matter how many people on board, space is the hardest thing to find, but its up to the skipper ultimately.
If anyone is interested please post here so I get a rough idea on how many skipper's and passenger's we could potentially have, and any boaties, please include number of passengers they could take aboard.
Myself, I could take up to 3 others, this would make fishing a bit cramped, but still manageable, though 2 will have to sit on some sort of fold up chair or an esky. I have the ability to take up to 100L of fuel, but I doubt we'll need that much.
Obviously, it wouldn't take place for a while, maybe when the weather has cooled off a bit, and conditions are more comfortable. Are there any others interested?
