    Open water denied NPD

It is getting very hard to get a lure into open water at NPD at the moment, apart frothem the area near Macgavins. Most other [legal acess] areas have 6 to 7ft high grass that harbours quite a few snakes.
But the main problem is if you can get to the water you have to cast about 20ft over the long grass to get to the open water. Then if you hook a fish it's hard to get it back through that jungle.
I had a few good sessions at the dam during the recent winds and rain, on different days I managed 14,28,34,16,5 plus a yella and wed only 1
Best bass was 53 most were between 25 and 40, most were caught on s/baits in black/red/purple colour [good one for cloudy days] and some on the green g/vibe and willow wobblers.
    Fish while you can

Yep, that grass is getting unreal, I had to stomp down a small area of grass to stand near the bank, ended up just taking my boots off and standing in the water. Otherwise the fish go straight into the grass and get tangled.
Makes using a baitcaster hard work when the grass is tickling the back of your head.
My boy got a kick out of releasing bass in the long grass sticking out of the water and watching them slowly find their way to the open water again.

Not to mention the amount of BUGS!!!! that treat you like a safe haven. I was out there last Sunday (with large hangover) and the flying ants were all over me.

Standing in 3ft of water with still 10 of grass to cast over didn't really turn my dials either. Packed it in after I caught a few 40cm rats.
