    Backing to reel knots

    Hey guys,
I have just purchased a cheap fly combo for playing with bass etc. I was just wondering whether I needed to use a mono line before I put the dacron on and what knot would I use?

    Cheers

    Hey Josh,

Here is a great site for fly fishing with all the basics needed to get started. Just click on the "tackling up' link for the knots you require. Plenty of other useful stuff as well.

There is a great DVD by Peter Morse called Arbor to Fly. You should check it out.

Go twice around the arbor and then tie a Uni Knot. 20lb Dacron backing should fill the reel.
