    Yokahama super diggers

local tyre place has these in 10R for $180 fitted.

Any comments on them? Searching only turned up stuff from a few years ago, before Geolanders.

Priority would be grip on wet bitument, use would be highway, Mt Mee style tracks, wet or dry, and sand. Going onto a GQ wagon

Hey Artesian, At $180 that seems very cheap for name brand 4wd tyres. Admittadly, Super diggers are not the most common tyre seen around, but at that price who cares . They are probably just as good as Coopers or B F Goodrich.
For years, I used Kumho Ventures on my Navara and got good mileage out of them. They were usually about $180 or $ 190 fitted.
It just goes to show you dont have to spent big dollars to get decent rubber on your fourby.
However, its probably fair to say you get what you pay for when it comes to tyres ,and the more expensive brand probably offer better protection agiasnt puntures in rough terrain. These tyres are probably best suited for hardcore 4 wheel enthusiasts that really enjoy the rough stuff and not the city slickers that mostly use them.

Artesian - I had a set of Yokohama Super Diggers on a 75 Series Troopy, still had them on it when I sold it 2 weeks ago.

They were good on the bitumen, quiet, never had an issue with traction (I was not going fast in the old 75s). They were good on dirt roads and sandy tracks. I was very happy with the traction on the rough gravel / rocky / sandy tracks through Eurimbula National Park and beach launching my tinny.

Nice deep tread blocks too, should get plenty of mileage out of them.

I think they were softer than my BFG AT's, but still gave good performance. I did not have them on the vehicle long enough to give you a long-term opinon (only had them on the car for about 15,000km before selling the truck).

    Cheers.

The super diggers used to be the ducks guts, always ran them all my fourbys in PNG. Used to be comparitively expensive compared to most brands but got less popular as the cheap euro and chinese imported tyres hit the marketplace.
I strongly recomend them as with any Yokie tyre.

    Thanks for the info.
Will have some off road playing over the next couple of days - if I get bogged on on the fairly worn and fairly old desert duelers I'll wish I bought them now!

I had hoped they were a good thing, given the brand, but they don't have the currently fashionable grooves that run around the tread that allow water to get away, etc. so I wondered.

G'day Ed. 4.2 petrol patrol seems mighty fast after the mighty 2.8 MQ wagon :-)
