I use the stren knot mate. It's essentially a uni knot tied into the mono and a 13-turn clinch knot in the braid. Very easy, just make sure you pull from the tag and the mainline when closing the knot, it will close up much neater and will retain greater strength that way.

Yep, love the albright. But what is the difference between the 'improved' and the standard albright?

    Twisted leader knot !!

It has to be easy otherwise I would end up tying a swivel in the middle !!!

Got it out of the Geoff Wilson knot book.

As the name suggests it's great for attaching a mono leader to your main braided line.

No failures and casts fine through runners, especially if your high speed spinning for macks or Tuna or jigging plastics!!

Will try and post up a diagram.

    Cheers

Yeah Allbright, Think the improved is the tag end is passed through the loop of the FC twice instead of once

The knot shown on the AF animated knots is the Improved version
The original just wrapped up the line then came back through the first loop or gap. It never pulled up as true as the improved version

Crabman showed us the "Slim Beauty" knot for joining braid to mono at Monduran. Joined 50lb braid to 60lb mono leader. Brilliant knot and easy to learn and as a bonus slips easily through the runners.
    Animated instructions on site below.

Used to use the 5 turn Surgeons ... until I learned the Albright ... 20 turns for me and I'll never tie a Surgeons again, the Albright is a much better knot than the Surgeons in my opinion ... has not let me down yet and simple to tie.

I put a post up the other day with some vids I made of an easy way to tie a bimini and also a ducknose which joins the braid to mono. Check it out, they're quite simple and strong knots.

Don't know how to work the link but its in the tackle & accessories chat section called a easier way to tie biminis

    Cheers
