    Need a Service "cheap"

Gday everyone. My tohatsu 40 has been playing up a little lately. every now and then it starts running rough when just engaged in forward with no throttle then dies and is very hard to get going again after that. seems to me its floading itself. as after letting it sit for a while after stalling it fires again with abit of smoke. think it needs a service my problem is the quotes ive had for a service is around 400 to 500 thats with parts but thats not including looking at the problem with carbie. My question is ,Is this a fair price for a service? does anyone know of services being done cheaper then that? i live in Brisbane area. havent rung every service centre in Bris but does anyone know any one thats cheap and does good job or does anyone know a backyard guy who does this sort of repairs and does good job cheap? hopefully some feed back will help. thinking maybe of just putting motor in just to get carbie looked at, thinking all up the total will break my budget. Cheers LW

    Re: Need a Service "cheap"

Just picked up my boat from getting a service done today .
    30 hp 4st Honda.
Full service for Honda 4st 30 & 40hp as per quote is $200. Extras are on top.
I got 3 new spark plugs, new impeller, new oil filter, and adjusted friction tensioner and adjusted carbies. mixture screw was out one whole turn.
    Total cost was $294.65.

Your quote sounds excessive to me mate.

    Cheers Jeff.

Okay, I have a 40 Tohatsu & you get what you pay for in a service .... when was the last time it had a service & how old is it? A set of plugs you can change yourself to see if things improve, if not then it may need a tune up. I've sent you a PM regarding service and my place of choice.
