Fun morning up the Creek....
Seeing as though the weather was OK this morning, the Son and I decided to throw the Canoe in Tingalpa Creek (which is our usual haunt). In our pre-canoe days, we used to fish a lot off the rock wall on the south side of the Manly marina, and having scoped it out at low tide numerous times, coupled with our catches there, we knew it was a good flathead spot. Since the Port Authority has put up the 'inpeneterable' fence, we thought it might be a good spot to run the canoe along since it doesn't seem to be fished anymore. So, our plan was to put in at Tingalpa Creek, and if we weren't having much luck, we'd paddle out to the marina. Well, we didn't do much paddling.
We soon found ourselves anchored between two peices of structure in the creek (the second, we only found 'cause we would occasionally snag it, and fish seemed to hit our lines and run into it).
Anyway, long story short, we landed 9 bream, a whiting, a Moses perch, and my first ever Estuary Cod, soon followed by my second Cod. Didn't measure the first, as I was unsure of the legal size, so it was sent back, but it was much larger than the second, and smaller, which measured in at about 26cm. Still fun on the light line! All fish were released, but it was a great morning, and our most productive in the creek.
Thinking we might head back tomorrow......
Damn, this sport/hobby is addictive!
Cheers to all!!!
