Agree with you every inch of the way Jabba .... any test can be tweeked for the desired result.

A lot of the so called results on the graphs on the Verado site were well up around or over the 20 percent differential or even higher. These days with all the BS regards litergation and the like, I imagine they travel a very fine line if there isn't some basis in it.

Re a reliable dealer ... as you and I both know, same old story. If you can find a good one that has good after sales service and doesn't charge like a wounded bull, stick to hime like S*** to a blanket as they are rear as rocking horse poo!

    G: day L/M
i have a 19r with a 200Suzi, trouble free with 180hrs not a bad motor, my young brother not so long ago repowered his boat with a 200 verado (6cyl) and that thing is outstanding from the word go, You must at least have a run in a verado to feel the power, head to head Paul and I, and he leaves me for dead, March i will now have a Verado but the 200hp L4 just to piss him off lol

    thanks Jake

    Hi Greg
this must be giving you a headache LOL, i run a Verado and just loveing it, cant praise it enough.But......... as others have said... if that was my boat ( but its not ) i would go Turbo diesel, a good mate of mine is getting a 30f bluewater alloy boat built as we speak, 480hp turbo diesel but for some reason he is useing a Konrad leg, if you like i can give you his mobile number and have a chat with him..( i will contact him first thou)

all the best and good luck

Hi Daz ... 30 ft' .... 9 or 10 metres thats a serious bit of boat..

Point taken and for a whole lot of reasons, I am really seriously looking toward a 315 HP Yanmar turbo diesel with a Mercruiser Bravo 2 x Diesel leg ... (the leg is spec is to take up to 320 HP and come as an extended leg of up to 25" as part of the process) .... bottom line ... knocking on the door of 42 big ones plus the fit ... lot of dosh, but then again thats a hell of an improvement.

Re the Konrad leg ... got me curious now ... I have never heard of them so better do a "google" and have a squizzy ...

Any help is more than appreciated as I can see the the refit is going to become all consuming as I am doing it myself, and most of all I want to get it right the first time.

    Cheers

Hey Liquid.. If you are that serious,, then definitely go diesel.. You'll have fare superior fuel economy then what any out-board could offer. And with 315hp, you certainly wont be under powered... If it were me and I had the coin, I would go diesel

Thanks Jabba ... dunno about the $$$$, but that certainly looks like the direction we are going to head in ....

Initially I was looking primarily toward the 260 HP Yanmar in the same class, but they don't make/don't import that specific engine any more apparently. They do a 260 HP which is a BMW derrivative, but I prefer things that have been tried and tested. Adding to that, the existing 315 is the same price as the BMW 260 HP version so that's good enough for me.

Just need to research stern drive legs a bit more as it appears there could be some issues there relating to the 750 n/m of torque that the Yanmar produces ??

    Cheers
    Greg
