    bull sharks

    hi all,
decided to brave the wind yesterday, and head up the creek
    and chase some muddies.
must of been a little too keen to get out.
launched the tinny parked the car......and yep the tinny was sinking.
felt like a real dick. for got to put in the bungs.
20 minutes later the tinney was afloat and away i went.

set my pots and threw the cast net for some herring.
half a dozen throws had me 7 herring and 6 nice sized prawns.

found a big old tree that had fallen in around 5metres and thought
    maybe a jack or 2.

first herring in lasted 2 minutes before it headed down stream with my hook.
second bait was smashed 30 seconds after hitting the water.
oxe eye herring around 50 cm.

all baits after that were smashed with out a look at the culprit.

checked the pots, bugger no crabs.
got some more livies and went back to the spot.

finally started getting a few to the boat, bullsharks one after the other.
would have hooked 30 plus. all around the 2.5 feet mark.
    was great fun.
ended up with 1 muddy and took 2 bullsharks home.

must be thousands of sharks up the creeks
didnt realize they were so thick.

    cheers dave.

had a ball catching them on light line.
had to triple my leader to land a couple.
mind you i have to stock the tackle box up
as they took what ever i put on.

    Re: bull sharks

It's been many years since I fished for them, but I do remember that it was a waste of time till the incoming tide. Is that still the case?

It's weird how the sounder shows nothing until the turn, then they show up, so where are they till the turn of the tide? This was at the junction of Bremer and Brisbane rivers.

we started fishing the last of the run in.
around 11am, high was around 1pm.
they were on the the chew right from the start.
and still going when we pulled the pin around 4pm
had a continuous show on the sounder.
more so on the run out.
will go back to the same spot in a day or too.
    12lb line was the main.

    cheers dave.
