Talking Noosa Xmas Surf Jew and Bribie Saturday

It s been a while since I posted but there are no fishing options in this breeze so I thought I would give you a few recent highlights.

Its the 24th December - 7.15 pm. I have caught a couple of good size Dart on the Gulp Jigging Grub. I chuck out the Gulp 4" Goby in Pumpkinseed on a1/6th 1/0 TT Jighead, 12lb leader, 3.6kg Fireline, 2-4kg 7ft rod, Sedona 2500 reel. I am standing on a ledge in the Noosa National Park near Devils Gate - sheltered from the strong northerly. Suddenly the rod bends over and we are in business - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and it just keeps going - the initial run is too long and consistent for a dart. Eventually I start to get a bit of line back and after about five mins of back and forth he is getting close. I let him wash up on to the rock ledge below with a wave and then jump down to grab him before the next one. A tasty 2.5 kilo Jew - perfect for Xmas lunch.

I managed a few Snapper and a Bluefin Trevally from the same rocks a few days later.

Yesterday I was up early and shot up to Buckleys Hole for a a quick flick - which was pretty tricky in the wind. I managed a couple of undersize flathead and cod and finally two Moses Perch that where big enough to keep. All were caught on the trusty Gulp 3" Minnow Grub in Pumpkinseed. Not much fun in the wind and the jigheads needed to be so heavy I kept getting snagged.

I suppose I better clean the reels and watch some fishing porn (Rapala DVDs)looking at the forecast - Happy New Year to all.

Hey MM,nice catch & good read. The Queensland East Coast Inshore Fin Fish Review has a list of proposed size & bag limits & under their proposal Mulloway will have to be 75cm to be legal so that fish would have to be sent back. You can get a copy from bait & tackle shops so i urge everyone to get a copy & make your comments on the proposed??? changes. So fishers like fish_gutz might never get to take 1 Jew. See ya.

well done mullet, the national park is a verry productive area and there are not too many fishermen there too.

hopefully if the weather prediction is right, for this weekend, i might give the Noosa national park a go.

i usually fish around the fairy pools area (i find it a bit safer than hells gates) but i have found a nice spot on the rock ledge that looks promesing.

good luck - I tried the pumicestone passage this am - four hours for one squire at 28 cm - so he had to go back - good sunrise though!
